Mattress Run
A hotel stay booked specifically to earn elite-qualifying nights, not for the accommodation itself.
Full definition
A mattress run is a hotel booking — usually at a cheap local property — made to earn elite-qualifying nights for status. Common at year-end when travelers are 1-3 nights short of hitting Platinum, Globalist, or Diamond.
Hotel programs tend to require actually staying (or at least checking in) to count nights. Don't skip out before check-in or the stay may not post.
