Status Match
Matching your elite status from one program to another, usually for a trial period.
Full definition
A status match transfers your elite tier from one airline/hotel program to a competitor's equivalent tier, usually for 3-12 months. Some programs (WestJet Rewards, Atmos Rewards) are permanent after a brief trial requirement; others (United, Delta) are more restrictive.
Strategy: if you're picking up new status from flying a different program than before, apply for a match to maintain status across multiple carriers.
