Hong Kong (HKG) Layover Guide

Hong Kong International Airport is one of the world's best-designed airports. Frequent connection point for Cathay Pacific awards, and a great place to stretch a layover into a Hong Kong visit.

2-4 hours (short)

**2-4 hours**: Stay in the terminal. Excellent food court at the central concourse, Cathay Pacific lounges (The Wing, The Pier — accessible to Oneworld Sapphire/Emerald), shower facilities. The airport is well-organized and generally not stressful.

4-8 hours (medium)

**4-8 hours**: Visit Hong Kong central. Take the Airport Express train (24 min, HK$110) to Central or Kowloon Station. Lunch at Tim Ho Wan (Michelin-starred dim sum), walk Star Ferry harbor, return via Airport Express. Realistic 3-4 hour city visit.

8-24 hours (long)

**8-24 hours**: Full Hong Kong day. Airport Express to Hong Kong Station, then taxi/MTR to Victoria Peak (cable car or tram, panoramic views), Stanley Market, or Tsim Sha Tsui promenade for sunset. Return to HKG via Airport Express. Plan 4 hours before your onward flight.
