Chase 5/24 Rule
Chase's policy of denying credit card applications if you've opened 5 or more personal accounts (any bank) in the past 24 months.
Full definition
The 5/24 rule is Chase's unofficial but strict underwriting standard: if you've opened 5 or more personal credit card accounts from any issuer in the past 24 months, Chase will deny your application for nearly all their Ultimate Rewards cards.
Authorized user accounts count against 5/24. Business cards from Chase, Amex, or Capital One typically don't appear on your personal credit report and don't count. Strategy: if you want Chase UR cards, front-load those applications before hitting 5/24 on other banks.
