Seat Configuration
The layout of seats in a cabin (e.g., 1-2-1, 2-2-2), determining aisle access and privacy.
Full definition
Cabin configuration describes how seats are arranged per row. 1-2-1 business class (reverse herringbone or staggered) gives every seat direct aisle access — the modern standard. 2-2-2 layouts (United old Polaris, AA on 777) trap window passengers. Older 2-3-2 configurations have no direct aisle from window seats.
For premium cabins, prefer 1-2-1 whenever possible. SeatGuru and ExpertFlyer have detailed seat maps.
