Partner Award

An award booked through one loyalty program but flown on a partner airline.

Full definition

A partner award is when you redeem miles from Program X to fly Airline Y. Example: using Atmos Rewards miles to fly Cathay Pacific. This works because airlines in alliances (Star, Oneworld, SkyTeam) and bilateral partnerships honor each other's award tickets.

Partner awards usually come with fixed per-region pricing even when the airline is flying their own metal at dynamic rates. This creates many of the best sweet spots in the points world.
