Flexible (Transferable) Points

Bank-issued points that can be transferred to multiple airline and hotel programs.

Full definition

Flexible points (also called transferable points) are currency issued by banks that can move to partner loyalty programs at predefined ratios. The five major flexible-points programs are Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou, and Bilt Rewards.

Flexibility is the key advantage: you only commit to a specific airline/hotel once you've found the redemption. This beats earning airline-specific miles (like United miles) that are locked in if your plans change.
