Open Jaw

A round-trip where your return flight departs from a different city than where you arrived, or returns to a different home city.

Full definition

An open jaw is a multi-city award ticket where you don't fly back from the same city you flew into. Example: JFK → LHR ... CDG → JFK (depart Paris instead of London, no ticket needed between LHR and CDG — you travel independently).

Open jaws don't add mileage cost on most programs and let you cover more ground on a single award. Many programs allow them automatically when searching multi-city.
