Stopover
A long break (usually 24+ hours internationally) on an award ticket between segments, effectively a free second destination.
Full definition
A stopover is a planned layover of more than 24 hours (international) or 4 hours (domestic) on an award ticket. Some programs allow stopovers on award tickets for free or a small fee — effectively letting you see two destinations for the price of one award.
Program highlights: Alaska allows free stopovers on one-way awards (the single best stopover rule), Aeroplan charges 5,000 points per stopover (the cheapest paid), Turkish and Singapore allow free stopovers on round-trips, Qantas allows one free stopover on one-ways.
